All hail King Messi. The magical Barcelona master tore Arsenal apart in a rampant four-goal display at the Nou Camp.
And the omens for the world's football super powers aren't good. With just 64 days until the showpiece tournament in South Africa kicks off, Messi has hit form that can only be described as World beating.
It's easy to forget that the diminutive striker is still only 22. He has scored 15 goals in a month between March 6 and April 6. In just nine games! In all, he has netted 23 goals in last three months.
Sportsmail has chosen five special moments and bows down to the magic of Messi.
1. Every promising youngster coming out of Buenos Aires is too quickly hailed as the 'next Maradona', but Messi made as perfect a case as possible for justifying the comparisons by scoring a goal against Getafe that was near identical to El Diego's masterpiece against England in the 1986 World Cup...
... can you spot the difference?
2. Scoring in the derby is one thing, slaying Real Madrid with a hat-trick in el clasico is going to endear you even more to those who wear the blaugrana...
3. One more goal for Barca, you cry? There are so many to choose from, but how about this sublime volley against Bayern Munich. It was just a friendly, but the Argentine turned it into an exhibition match...
4. The winger can do it for his country too and was inspirational for Argentina at the 2007 Copa America. They were scandalously beaten Brazil in the final, but not before Messi had scored this perfectly executed chip against Mexico...
5. The destruction of Arsenal wasn't a one-off, it wasn't even the first time he has scored a hat-trick this year. His treble against the Gunners was the fourth in 2010. Here's his recent trio of superb goals during the clash with Real Zaragoza.
