Sabahan student wins 1Malaysia photo contest
PUTRAJAYA, May 20 – A student from Sabah was adjudged the winner of the 1Malaysia Photo Contest for being able to capture the image of goodwill and unity in his picture.
Henry Liew Su Loong, 21, of Kudat, took a picture of children at a kindergarten in Kota Kinabalu.
“I want to convey a message that unity among various races should be cultivated since school days. I am surprised as it was the first photo contest that I had entered. This victory will spur me to pursue a career in photography,” said Liew, a student at Sabah Arts Institute.
A son of a bus driver and a teacher, he walked away with a Canon DSLR camera.
The second prize went to Md Azrul Shaffiq Md Suhaimi, who bagged a Nokia E63 mobile phone while third, Noor Diyana Mohmad Apandi, 20, collected an MP3 Ipod Touch player.
They received their prizes from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Putra Perdana here today. – Bernama
