“Melayu”

Tranungkite
Oleh
shimahasbi

"Sajak ini ditulis oleh Sasterawan Negara Dr. Usman Awang, mungkin boleh kita renung dan fikir-fikir kan.Muhasabah diri.

Sajak “Melayu” oleh Usman Awang

Melayu itu orang yang bijaksana
Nakalnya bersulam jenaka
Budi bahasanya tidak terkira
Kurang ajarnya tetap santun
Jika menipu pun masih bersopan
Bila mengampu bijak beralas tangan

Melayu itu berani jika bersalah
Kecut takut kerana benar
Janji simpan di perut
Selalu pecah di mulut
Biar mati adat
Jangan mati anak

Dalam sejarahnya
Melayu itu pengembara lautan
Melorongkan jalur sejarah zaman
Begitu luas daerah sempadan
Sayangnya kini segala kehilangan

Melayu itu kaya falsafahnya
Kias kata bidal pusaka
Akar budi bersulamkan daya
Gedung akal laut bicara

Malangnya Melayu itu kuat bersorak
Terlalu ghairah pesta temasya
Sedangkan kampung telah tergadai
Sawah sejalur tinggal sejengkal
Tanah sebidang mudah terjual

Meski telah memiliki telaga
Tangan masih memegang tali
Sedang orang mencapai timba
Berbuahlah pisang tiga kali
Melayu itu masih bermimpi

Walaupun sudah mengenal universiti
Masih berdagang di rumah sendiri
Berkelahi cara Melayu
Menikam dengan pantun
Menyanggah dengan senyum
Marahnya dengan diam
Merendah bukan menyembah
Meninggi bukan melonjak

Watak Melayu menolak permusuhan
Setia dan sabar tiada sempadan
Tapi jika marah tak nampak telinga
Musuh dicari ke lubang cacing
Tak dapat tanduk telinga dijinjing
Maruah dan agama dihina jangan
Hebat amuknya tak kenal lawan

Berdamai cara Melayu indah sekali
Silaturrahim hati yang murni
Maaf diungkap senantiasa bersahut
Tangan diulur sentiasa bersambut
Luka pun tidak lagi berparut

Baiknya hati Melayu itu tak terbandingkan
Selaga yang ada sanggup diberikan
Sehingga tercipta sebuah kiasan:
“Dagang lalu nasi ditanakkan
Suami pulang lapar tak makan
Kera di hutan disusu-susukan
Anak di pangkuan mati kebuluran”

Bagaimanakah Melayu abad dua puluh satu
Masihkan tunduk tersipu-sipu ?
Jangan takut melanggar pantang
Jika pantang menghalang kemajuan;
Jangan segan menentang larangan
Jika yakin kepada kebenaran;
Jangan malu mengucapkan keyakinan
Jika percaya kepada keadilan

Jadilah bangsa yang bijaksana
Memegang tali memegang timba
Memiliki ekonomi mencipta budaya
Menjadi tuan di negara Merdeka!

Malaysiakini report entitled 'PM Najib': Int'l media's underwhelming reception' says it all.

From London and Paris to Jakarta and Brisbane, notable publications have cast doubts on the Najib Abdul Razak’s worthiness for the PM’s office.

It is safe to say that no prime ministerial succession – we have had five in the last 38 years – has had as underwhelming a reception in the international media as Najib’s.

Demokrasi Malaysia dikuburkan

http://buletinonline.net/images/stories/berita2/watercanontruck.jpg

pentadbiran kuku besi

24th Mac 2009

A phase of repression descended on Malaysia as Najib Razak seizes control of the reins of power, even before officially taking over as Prime Minister, and unleashes his brutality and violence on the people.

Last night, a rally of about 10,000 people from all races was mercilessly attacked by the police with tear gas and acid-laced water cannon minutes after I began my speech in Bukit Selambau. Scores of people were arrested including my chief of staff, MPs, and senior aides to the Chief Minister of Kedah.

To justify their iron hand tactics and blatant violation of the people’s fundamental liberties, the police have claimed that the rally was illegal. These are baseless claims as the event took place on private property and adhered to the rules.

Last night’s show of brute force is but the latest in a series of harsh and dictatorial action by the government under Najib against the people. Also yesterday Suara Keadilan and Harakah were banned by the Home Ministry without any justification. These events only too starkly remind us of the cruel and authoritarian style of leadership under which Malaysians suffered for many years. The police force has become a band of marauders. The press is muzzled and those who speak the truth about the abuses carried out by the ruling clique are arrested, beaten and bullied.

The institutions of governance serve the interests of an elite clique which will exceed all boundaries of the law to retain power. A return to that era would be a disaster for this country and people of conscience around the world should condemn these unscrupulous actions.

It is quite clear that despite his superficial offers for cooperation and bipartisanship, the olive branch which Najib Razak extended to the opposition early this month is really a dagger in disguise.

In two weeks Malaysians will once again return to the polls in three important by-elections. Once again all forms of trickery, cheating and bribery will be employed by the UMNO led BN government in order to defeat the opposition. But we are confident that Malaysians will register a referendum, much like they already have done in Kuala Terengganu and in Permatang Pauh, against the brutal and inhumane policies of the government. The movement for change and reform in Malaysia will push forward and will succeed.

Oldest person in the world

Is this woman really as old as the LIGHT BULB? 'Oldest person in the world' set to celebrate her 130th birthday
By Will Stewart

Officials in Kazakhstan say they have a found a woman who will this week celebrate her 130th birthday, making her 16 years older than the oldest known human currently living.

Sakhan Dosova - a mother of ten - says she has never visited a doctor nor eaten sweets. She is addicted to cottage cheese and puts her longevity down to her sense of humour.

Her remarkable age came to light during a census in Karaganda in northern Kazakhstan. Demographers were astonished to find that she was also on Stalin's first census of the region in 1926 when her age was given as 47.

Ten years old when Hitler was born: Sakhan Dosova, who apparently turns 130 on March 27, in a recent picture

Her date of birth is said to be 27 March 1879, and it is clearly shown on her documents including her Soviet era passport and independent Kazakhstan identity card.

Until the recent census, however, her fame did not extend beyond her far-flung city.

While some Kazakh officials are pressing for more detailed checks on her claim, fearing the country could face ridicule if it is shown to be false, she has no doubts and is basking in her new found fame.

'I don't have any special secret,' she said. 'I've never taken pills and if I was ill, I used granny's remedies to cure me.

'I have never eaten sweets, I don't like them. But I love kurt (a salty dried cottage cheese) and talkan (ground wheat).'

Gaukhar Kanieva, 42, her grand-daughter, said: 'She is a very cheerful woman. We think laughter and her good mood helped her live so long.'

Nailya Dosayeva, head of social and demographical department of Karaganga regional statistics bureau, said there is no doubt that her claim is authentic.

'Sakhan Dosova was found during our census held in February and March. She has an old passport and documents which are genuine, and based on these we can judge her age as being correct.'

The local mayor Islam Togaybayev went to visit her 'to personally congratulate her on such an achievement and show his respect', said his spokesman.

If Sakhan's year of birth is accurate, it means she was born when Queen Victoria still had 22 more years to rule in Britain and Disraeli was prime minister.

It was the year that Stalin and Einstein were born, the Anglo-Zulu war started, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle published his first story.

The year 1879 also saw Edison present his new invention - the light bulb - while the ill-fated last tsar of Russia was just 11 years old.

She was ten when Hitler was born, 38 when Lenin led the Russian Revolution, and reached retirement age, 60, the year the Second World War began.

The old woman lives in poor conditions in an overcrowded flat with one of her granddaughters, though she is said to be in good health apart from some problems with her hearing.

According to one account of her life, twice-married Sarkan was widowed at the Battle of Stalingrad during the Second World War. Only three of her children remain alive.

Officially, the oldest living person in the world is American Edna Parker of the US at 114.

Some Kazakh bureaucrats want more checks to be done to ascertain the accuracy of her claim, pointing out that birth records in Kazakhstan in the 19th century are notoriously unreliable.

'We can see that this is turning into a big story and for the sake of our country, we need to be sure her claim is correct,' said one official.

According to one version of her life, she must have given birth to several children over the age of 60, he said.

'There is no doubt she is very old. But is she really 130? Or was there a white lie long ago which was never corrected? We need to find out.'

The central Asian state is only now recovering from damage to its reputation caused by Sacha Baron Cohen's film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

Senior state statistician Lyudmila Kolesova said: 'We're checking the authenticity of the data on her case.'

Amazing Parent's

Girl, 5, makes medical history by receiving father's liver AND mother's kidney
By James Tozer

Like most parents, they would give anything to help their daughter.

But Jasmine Mirza’s mother and father have given her more than most – she is the first child in Britain to receive organ transplants from both parents.

The five-year- old is recovering well after being given one of her mother’s kidneys, and already has a portion of her father’s liver.

Yesterday the couple spoke of their joy at being able to give Jasmine the gift of a normal life and said the operations had strengthened the bond between them.

Mirza family

'Part of us': Jasmine Mirza with father Sohrab Mirza and mother Cathie Locke

‘She is more part of us now than she ever would have been,’ said her father, Sohrab, 38.

‘As a parent, you would always say you would give an arm and a leg to help your children. It

is amazing that we have been able to do that.’

Diagnosed with liver failure at seven months, Jasmine has spent more than a quarter of her short life in hospital, but thanks to her parents’ sacrifices she has now started school.

Mr Mirza, who works for a financial services firm, opted to give his daughter part of his liver rather than wait for a donor organ to become available.

She was given around 30 per cent of his in an operation at King's College Hospital in London. The liver tissue will grow with her, while his liver has regenerated.

Jasmine required daily doses of drugs, but her condition began to improve.

‘It was amazing to be offered the opportunity and then to do it and see her so well,’ said Mr Mirza yesterday. However, last year the family, who live in Farnborough, Hampshire, were hit by a new blow – Jasmine’s kidneys had begun to fail.

It appeared they had been affected by the drugs Jasmine was taking to prevent her body rejecting her father’s liver.

Her mother Cathie, 33, had to take her to hospital in London four times a week for dialysis treatment.

The prospect of having to wait months, or possibly years, for a suitable organ to be donated led her husband to put himself forward again as a candidate to donate an organ.

But after tests, doctors told him that his kidneys were not suitable. His wife then stepped forward and was accepted as a potential donor.

In October a kidney was taken from Mrs Mirza at Guy’s Hospital and carried across London to Jasmine, who was being treated at St Thomas’.

The surgery was not without risk, however – Mrs Mirza’s procedure lasted three hours, but the operation on Jasmine lasted ten.

‘It was always in the back of your mind,’ Mr Mirza said. ‘We could have gone ahead and I could have lost both girls.’

To their joy, the operation was again a success, and Jasmine was able to return to North Farnborough Infant School in January.

The only sign of her illness now is a feeding tube through her nose, which her parents hope can be removed shortly.

Doctors treating her say they have never come across a case of a child receiving ‘living’ organ donations from both parents.

The NHS Blood and Transplant agency said it was ‘very, very rare’ for anyone to receive transplants from their mother and father. The couple said Jasmine’s treatment had been excellent throughout but said their experience underlined the importance of registering as an organ donor.

‘Jasmine’s recovery is all credit to the NHS,’ said Mr Mirza. ‘We all complain when you have to go to accident and emergency and wait for hours. We’ve done it ourselves.

‘But when you are on a hospital ward in a specialist hospital, what they do is amazing.’ Mrs Mirza added: ‘Jasmine is getting there, but on the emotional side our lives have been on hold for such a long time.

‘Now we are looking forward to getting back to normality.’

Underwater Volcano

By Daily Mail Reporter

Spewing clouds of smoke, ash and steam thousands of feet into the sky, these dramatic images show the raw power of an undersea volcano erupting.

The spectacular columns blasted out of the South Pacific yesterday six miles off the coast of Tonga's main island Tongatapu. The eruption can be seen clearly from the capital, Nuku'alofa, although residents only reported seeing smoke rising from the sea on Wednesday, two days after it is believed to have begun

'It's a very significant eruption, on quite a large scale,' said Keleti Mafi, head of the country's geological service.

But authorities said today that the eruption does not pose any danger to islanders at this stage, and there have been no reports of fish or other animals being affected.

No warnings have been issued to the coastal villages close to the volcano, which is one of 36 undersea volcanoes clustered in that area. The situation is being helped by trade winds which continue to blow gas and steam away from the island.

Those living nearby said the columns of steam and ash first appeared on Monday morning, after a series of sharp earthquakes were felt in the capital, Nuku'alofa.

'This is not unusual for this area and we expect this to happen here at any time,' Mr Mafi said, adding that a similar eruption took place there in 2002.

Scientists believe the underwater eruption was taking place to the west of the low-lying twin volcanic islands of Hunga Tonga and Hunga Ha'apai, within sight of Nuku'alofa.

Large amounts of pumice thrown up by the erupting volcano would be likely to clog beaches on the southern coast of nearby Fiji islands within a short time, he said.

Tonga, a 170-island archipelago about halfway between Australia and Tahiti, is part of the Pacific 'ring of fire' - an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones stretching from Chile in South America through Alaska and down through Vanuatu to Tonga.

The U.S. Geological Survey says that a 7.9 earthquake has struck near Tonga, prompting a tsunami warning for adjacent islands in the South Pacific. The USGS says that the quake struck about 130 miles (200 kilometers) south-southeast of the Tongan capital of Nuku'Alofa at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 kilometers). It struck Friday morning local time. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning for neighboring islands, but it was not immediately known if a tsunami had been generated. It also advises that some coastal areas of Hawaii could see a rise in sea level and strong currents lasting up to several hours.
